Imam Hasan (a.s.)’s wisdom is unparalleled. Below are some questions that were posed to Imam Hasan (a.s.) and look at the wisdom in his responses: (please note, the questions were asked by different people at different occasions, they have been put together here to give a glimpse of the wisdom of our great Imam!).
"What is asceticism?"
"The desire to be pious and abstemious (self-denying) in this life."
“What is forbearance?"
"Restraining one's anger and controlling oneself."
"What is righteousness?"
"Replacing the bad with the good."
“What is honor?"
"Being kind to one's relatives and shouldering people's burdens of sin."
"What is the succor?".
"Defending the neighbor, patience in war, and advance during adversities."
"What is glory?"
"Giving while being in debt and forgiving others their offences."
"What is manliness?"
"Holding onto the faith, keeping one's self-respect, being merciful, being kind, giving back people's trusts, and ingratiating oneself to the people..."
"What distance is between the right and the falsehood?"
"Four fingers." "What you see with your own eye is the right. You may hear a lot of falsehoods with your ear."
"What distance is between faith and certitude?"
"Four fingers - faith is what we hear, and certitude is what we see."
"What is the distance between the sky and the heaven?"
"The prayer of the wronged."
"What is the distance between the east and west?"
"A day's travel of the sun.”
